Scansonic at The Battery Show Europe: Precision for E-Mobility Manufacturing
09. Mar 2025

Berlin, March 2025 – Manufacturing in the e-mobility sector demands high precision. Complex components, diverse materials, and fast processes present significant challenges for manufacturers. Scansonic will demonstrate in Stuttgart how its laser processing optics address these challenges. The presentation will be supported by a collaboration with system integrator Bergmann & Steffen, who contributes complementary technologies.
Complete System for Battery Contacting
At the booth, Scansonic and Bergmann & Steffen will showcase a system for battery contacting. As a complete solution for laser welding of cylindrical cells, the Scanwalker system combines image processing, rapid clamping technology, and laser welding. For the welding optics, the system integrator uses Scansonic’s FCW (Fast Component Welding) technology, which impresses with flexible laser spots, adjustable laser power, and powerful scanners.
The FCW system also enables simultaneous processing of multiple components through the arrangement of several extremely compact scanning units on a single application plate, thereby increasing output. Alternatively, the expanded scan field allows larger components to be processed in a single step. The system is ideal for applications involving long seams or numerous welds, such as in battery cells, bipolar plates, flat coolers, battery trays, or hairpins for electric motors.
Battery Tray Challenge
Another key focus at the booth will be the latest generation of the market-leading ALO product family for laser brazing and laser welding with filler wire and tactile seam tracking. The ALO4 excels in applications that require the highest precision and has already established itself in body manufacturing. For the specific requirements in battery tray production, Scansonic has developed two specialized derivatives.
The ALO4-F, presented to a wider audience for the first time, reaches even hard-to-access areas, such as corner joints in battery trays, thanks to its flat design. The ALO4-O, with an oscillating laser beam and additional filler wire, allows for a wider connection cross-section by melting even more material.
